American Sharks “Self-Titled”
American Sharks dive into their eponymous debut with gusto, and they get out as quickly as a Navy Seal fleeing Bin Laden’s compound.
But this isn’t punk, as you would expect from a band whose ADHD plays out over nine songs and a little over 19 minutes. It is stoner rock at its fullest – and shortest – and these guys seem to like their green speedy.
Powered by fluid, overdriven bass, Kyuss-like glow, and punchy vocal approach, American Sharks kick in the door with the rumble of “Iron Lungs” and close the album just as impressively with “Demon with a Glass Sword,” “Cocaine,” and “11:11.” Is there any fat in between? Not only no, but hell no.
American Sharks is out now on The End Records.
